Trabzonspor are set to renew their efforts to sign Dinamo Kiev defender Taras Mykhavko in the upcoming mid-season transfer window. The club aims to negotiate a fee around €7 million for the 21-year-old Ukrainian centre-back, after Dinamo Kiev refused to sell during the summer.

The move comes as technical director Thomas Reis seeks to bolster a defensive line that has been plagued by injuries since last season. Mykhavko was identified from a player pool prepared by the club's scouting team and approved by Reis. "A reinforcement for the defence will be made in the mid-season transfer period in line with the request of technical director Thomas Reis," Reis said.

Mykhavko, who has made 114 career appearances and scored 7 goals without receiving a red card, is reportedly keen on the move to advance his career. Trabzonspor currently sit 7th in the Süper Lig with 10 points from 6 matches. Their next fixture is away to 16th-placed Samsunspor on 10 October, following a recent run of form that reads two wins and three losses from their last five outings (LWLWL).

Club president Ertuğrul Doğan had previously stated that defenders would be provided. Under his presidency, Trabzonspor has worked to create new income sources through sponsorship deals and player sales, aiming for a sustainable, debt-free structure. The transfer committee is expected to initiate formal contacts for Mykhavko in the coming weeks.
