Trabzonspor has begun negotiations to sign Turkish international goalkeeper Berke Özer from Lille. The club aims to make a long-term investment in the goalkeeping position to bolster their Süper Lig ambitions.

A manager authorized by Trabzonspor's board has met with Lille officials and submitted an official offer for the 26-year-old shot-stopper. Lille's management is currently opposed to the player's departure, but Berke Özer is said to be receptive to the terms proposed by the Turkish club.

Berke Özer, named Ligue 1 Goalkeeper of the Year last season, is under contract with the French side until 2029. He joined Lille from Eyüpspor in the summer of 2025 for a fee of €4.5 million and currently has an estimated market value of €12 million. Standing at 1.91m, he has kept three clean sheets in five league appearances this campaign.

The move comes as Trabzonspor sits 7th in the Süper Lig with 10 points. With Andre Onana currently on a one-year loan, pursuing Özer signals a clear intent for the future. Concrete developments are anticipated in the mid-season transfer window. Trabzonspor's next league match is away to Samsunspor on October 10.
