Trabzonspor have placed Egyptian defender Mohamed Hany on their transfer shortlist to reinforce the right-back position. The 30-year-old's contract with Al Ahly expires at the end of the season, making him a potential free-agent target.
Club President Ertuğrul Doğan had previously stated plans to make 2-3 additions to the squad in the mid-season window. Egyptian journalist Mohamed Shabana claimed the Storm have set their sights on Hany for the right-back role. Hany has worn the Al Ahly jersey since 2015, making 399 official appearances with 8 goals and 31 assists. He also has 47 caps for Egypt and was part of their 2026 World Cup squad.
The club currently has only one recognised right-back in the squad, 23-year-old Cape Verdean Wagner Pina, with no natural backup causing issues in his absence. National team colleague Mohamed Salah is reported to have recommended Hany to the club. Trabzonspor sit 7th in the Süper Lig with 10 points from 6 games. Their next league fixture is away to 16th-placed Samsunspor on October 10th.
