European Cup Playoffs: Süper Lig 2nd Round Matches Postponed

Fenerbahçe, Beşiktaş and Trabzonspor applied to TFF for postponing their 2nd round Süper Lig matches after their critical European cup matches. The three clubs, citing the intense fixture list, will request a schedule change from the federation to accommodate the short period between their league matches and European competitions.

European Matches Before Süper Lig

UEFA Champions League play-off round match against Olympique Lyon, Fenerbahçe will play its first European match on August 18. UEFA Europa League play-off round match against Ferencvaros, Trabzonspor will face; Beşiktaş will face Kauno Zalgiris on August 20. The three clubs will have to return to Süper Lig action shortly after these critical matches.

3 Matches for Postponement Request

Fenerbahçe’s match against Konyaspor, Trabzonspor’s match against Başakşehir, and Beşiktaş’s match against Alanyaspor will be postponed to a later date. The clubs, citing their representation of Turkey in European competitions and the limited rest period between the two competitions, are united in their request for a schedule change.

Eyes on TFF's Decision

After the submissions, the eyes will be on the Turkish Football Federation. If the federation accepts the requests, new dates will be set for Fenerbahçe-Konyaspor, Trabzonspor-Başakşehir and Alanyaspor-Beşiktaş matches. TFF’s decision will directly affect the preparation process of the teams competing in European competitions and the Süper Lig 2nd round fixture list.
