Mohamed Salah scored two goals on his Trabzonspor debut as the club beat İstanbul Başakşehir 2-1.
The Egyptian forward opened his account in the 8th minute at Papara Park, latching onto Aral Şimşir's cross after Muhammed Şengezer failed to hold the shot. İstanbul Başakşehir equalised in the 19th minute when Eldor Shomurodov's penalty, awarded for handball, was calmly converted past André Onana.
Salah restored Trabzonspor's lead three minutes after the break, cutting in from the right, exchanging passes with Ernest Muçi and finishing with a left-footed shot beyond Şengezer. He had a 31st-minute chip tipped over by the goalkeeper and released Paul Onuachu after the break, though Emin Bayram recovered to challenge.
In stoppage time, Salah appeared to complete a hat-trick twice but both efforts were ruled out: the first for a foul in the build-up, the second for offside after Şengezer advanced for a corner. He was also shown a yellow card in the 79th minute for diving in the box.
