Trabzonspor defender Arseniy Batagov will be out of action for approximately two months with a left thigh injury. The club's head of the health board, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Beşir, announced the diagnosis following scans.

Prof. Dr. Ahmet Beşir stated, "After our player Arseniy Batagov completed his treatment and rehabilitation process following right knee surgery and continued training with our team, he felt pain in the front of his left thigh during training. The examination and MRI imaging revealed extensive bleeding and edema due to injury in the left thigh rectus femoris muscle and its intramuscular tendon." The club's medical staff have begun treatment for the 24-year-old Ukrainian.

The injury is a significant blow for Trabzonspor, who sit fifth in the Süper Lig with 13 points following their 2-0 derby win over Beşiktaş. The team's form reads WWWLW from their last five matches, extending a three-game winning streak. The team has scored 16 goals while conceding only 5 in the first seven matchweeks. Batagov's absence will create a gap in the defence ahead of the away fixture against Rizespor on 26 October. The team's next match is against Rizespor at the Çaykur Didi Stadium on Saturday, 26 October at 19:00. They will face an opponent currently sitting 12th in the table.

Added to the team's injuries list, Batagov had yet to feature in the league this season. Trabzonspor have scored 16 and conceded just 5 goals in the first seven matchweeks, sitting six points behind leaders Galatasaray. Top scorer Mohamed Salah has seven goals. The team's recent five-match run includes four wins and one defeat. These victories include last week's win over Beşiktaş with goals from O. Tufan and M. Salah, the 4-2 win over KuPS on 15 October where Franculino scored twice and Salah once, and the 3-0 victory against Samsunspor on 10 October. Who will replace Batagov will be decided by the coaching staff in preparations for the Rize match.
